SolarCloud

About SolarCloud

SolarCloud makes solar ownership possible for everyone, including renters, apartments and homes with the wrong roof. You own real SolarCloud solar, hosted and maintained for you, and the cash value of the solar it generates is credited to any Australian energy account every quarter.

What we believe

Solar should not be limited to people who happen to own the right roof. We built SolarCloud so anyone can own solar and help bring their energy bills down.

A regulated way to own solar

SolarCloud is an Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)-regulated managed investment scheme. Your money sits in a regulated scheme, not our bank account.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC)-regulated investment product - ARSN 612 098 110 - AFSL via LLA Equities.

How it works, in short

You own solar from $139 one-off, then we host and maintain it, the energy it generates is sold, and you are credited every quarter.

Our story

From one wrong-facing roof to a new way to own solar.

Determined to have solar, John explored hosting his solar on a neighbour's barn roof to transfer the electricity to his meter.

2017

John Kennedy (CEO) wanted solar for his Sydney home but most of his roof faced the wrong way and a large tree shaded the rest. Determined to save money and be green, he explored hosting solar on a neighbour's barn. He had also been exploring the 'sharing economy' to reduce waste through better asset use - and the idea of cloud-based solar was born. Legal exploration began to ensure safety and security for all. Test-marketed on Facebook: within days over 4,800 people registered worldwide.

2018

Energy licence acquired; Product Disclosure Statement (see /pds) written; the LLA Group (formerly Huntley Group), an Australian Financial Services Licence holder, appointed as trustee and manager of invested funds.

2019

The first test site sold out instantly.

2020

Test site performs better than expected; COVID lockdown; PDS amended to allow variable holdings of SolarCloud solar panels (ARSN 612 098 110).

2021

Ready to launch; COVID lockdown again.

2025

Launch.
